You will visit the most famous prehistoric monument in the world and a World Heritage site, dating back nearly 5,000 years ago. The monument stands on a small mound in a vast plain in the countryside 10 miles away from Salisbury. This monument has remained a mystery since its construction thousands of years ago. To this day we are not sure how Stonehenge was built or what it was used for. It could be a temple of the Druids of Celtic religion, a cemetery from the Bronze Age, an observatory of the moon or even an astronomical clock.
We will spend one hour at Stonehenge which will be enough time for you to view this prehistoric monument, have refreshments and also visit the souvenir shop.
After visiting Stonehenge we will be driving through the countryside from the landscape of Salisbury Plains to the City of Bath, a historic city from the Roman and Georgian periods.
Here you will be able to see the Roman Baths with their natural hot springs, the Pump House, Abbey and beautiful Pulteney Bridge.
Bath is one of the most popular places to visit in England, which has been welcoming visitors for hundreds of years. In the 1700s and 1800s Baths hot springs attracted the Georgian and Victorian members of high society who came to bath to be healed by the spring and spa treatment. Bath was also very popular for gambling, gala balls in the evening.
The Historic Roman Baths is listed as a World Heritage Site where the Romans built a temple and bath that still flows today with natural hot spring water. The tour allows you to see the ancient baths with lots of Roman artefacts.
Today Bath is a thriving city and a haven for shppers, with shops ranging from Antique shops to designer shops.
After visiting Bath our shore excursion is coming to an end and we will depart for your cruise ship at 13:30pm to Southampton port.
